Covid19 and Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

Hi friends. I am Lorenda Howell, here creating experiences to tell your love story through stress-free event planning and design.

Oh Em Gee…it’s been almost an entire year since I last made a blog. Ekkk, that is so embarrassing. But today I’m back and ready to dive into today’s topic: "Covid19 and Getting Back Into the Swing of Things”.

It has been 18 long months since we were introduced to a global pandemic. We all have our different opinions on wearing masks, being vaccinated, government mandates and so forth and so on. But that’s not why I am here today. I respect each person’s opinion, I may not always agree but this platform is not for debating each other’s views and/or beliefs. It’s about the “new normal” and how we move the needle forward.

As of June 2nd, my home state, Ohio is officially back to business as usual, well at least in the wedding world. So far I have had weddings every weekend, under our new found normalcy. But what does this version of “new normal” look like? (Before I answer that, I want to make a quick note to my viewers. As you know, my niche is creating experiences. With that being said, I will not be speaking from a “rule/regulations” or “mandate” space, but rather from a place of creating experiences.) The answer may be a little different for everyone, but for my clients, new normal emphasis intimacy and higher impact on details. Our new normal knows tomorrow is not promised so it has a stance of maximizing the moment.

Essentially the details have always mattered, but in a different way. I’m no longer having to convince my clients to rent chairs, upgrade their linens or invest in draping, now that is a given to many. I’m not exactly sure if I can put it into words, as to why. But they now value the details, much more. They want their wedding to be more than just another evening out. My clients want their guest to experience something they have never experienced before. They want to take it a step or two above the old normal. I, personally love this! I love that I am hearing statements like “I want everyone to be speechless when they walk in” or “I want to cry when I walk in (because it will be so beautiful)”. This is awesome, right. But how is this done? How do you make your event stand out? Easily, start with the basics.

First, hire a planner! Oh, come on, if no-one else tells you to hire a planner, you know I’m going to, so hire a planner lol. Second, tell your love story. Your guests would love nothing more than to experience the love you two share for just a few hours. Make this about you. Remember you are doing this for you! Yes, you are putting in all of this hard work and attention to each detail for your guests, but the focus and center of it all is the love between you two. Your love story is what sets your wedding a part from every other wedding, it’s why we are even here to begin with, so tell your story. Last, we need show stoppers. As the couple, you are the first show stopper. What else can you add that speaks to the two of you? Something that will make your guests feel incredible but still makes sense in the overall picture.

All jokes aside, this is why we start with a planner because planners like myself start with a Development and Research phase. In that first phase we are doing so much home work. We take the time to learn who you are, what you like, what you don’t like, how did you meet and ultimately become engaged. We want listen to your wishes, understand your ideas and meet your expectations because our goal is always to create an experience for you and your guests. Our objective is to truly tell your love story in a way that makes sense through stress-free event planning and design while turning moments into memories.

And honestly, that’s what it’s all about. If you take nothing else from this blog, take this: (1) Details matter, (2)The Experience matters, and (3) your one-of-a-kind love story is the key ingredient to all of this. Without that, you have just another fun night out.

Thank you for joining me, I hope you have enjoyed our time together. I will be back soon.
